Merge PDFs and rearrange their pages

File order and page order are related but different. Merge first when you need several documents in one file, then organize its pages when individual pages need changes.

Arrange the source documents

Open Merge PDF, add at least two PDFs and place them in the desired file order. Leave Match page sizes off to keep each source size, or choose a common size and check the result.

Fictional example: put a cover letter before a six-page report and a two-page appendix. The combined document should begin with the cover and end with the appendix.

  1. Add the PDFs and arrange their file order.
  2. Choose whether original page sizes should remain.
  3. Run the merge and inspect the first and last pages of each source group.

Change individual pages

Open the combined result in Organize pages. Drag thumbnails or use the arrow controls to move a page, remove an unwanted page or restore it from the removed-pages list. Rotate selected pages when needed.

Check the final sequence before saving. A removed page disappears from the output while the source remains separate. If you need individual sections again, Split PDF can extract their page ranges.

Mix scans in alternating order

Front-side and back-side scans may need interleaving instead of ordinary merging. Alternate and mix uses one front file and one back file; reverse the second document when its scan order is backwards.

Review the first few front/back pairs and any unmatched trailing pages. Unequal source lengths do not mean that every page has a matching reverse side.

Check the final document

Preview the output at a readable zoom. Confirm page count, orientation, appendix placement and any mixed paper sizes. Save a copy before sharing and retain the originals for further changes.

If the merged file is too large, use compression or size-based splitting after arranging the pages. Neither operation should be treated as proof that the finished document fits the recipient’s requirements; inspect its saved size and readability.
