Make a transparent thumbmark image from your own ink impression
A thumbmark maker cleans an image you supply. It should preserve your actual ink impression rather than invent a fingerprint or imply identity verification.
Capture your own ink impression clearly
Photograph your own ink thumbmark on plain paper with even lighting. Keep the camera steady and the full mark inside the frame. An image that is blurred, overexposed or filled with dense ink cannot be repaired reliably by a threshold setting.
Fictional example: a person practices with their own ink impression on a blank test sheet before preparing an application attachment. They photograph only the test mark and keep private documents out of the background.
- Open Thumbmark maker and add the photo of your ink impression.
- Crop around the mark and adjust the cleanup threshold.
- Inspect the preview before saving the transparent PNG.
Preserve the mark while removing paper
Zoom in to compare the original and cleaned image. A threshold that is too strong can erase faint ridges; a weak setting can retain paper texture and shadows. Aim for a readable version of the supplied impression, not an artificially perfect pattern.
Do not use the tool to generate someone else’s fingerprint, impersonate a person or create an authentication record. Image cleanup does not verify identity, ownership or a match against any official system.
Check dimensions, format and file size separately
Read the receiving form’s current instructions. Pixel width and height, file type, byte limit, background colour and which impression is required can vary. There is no universal thumbmark upload specification.
The cleaned output is a transparent PNG. If a destination requires JPG, use a compatible conversion and inspect the background and ridges again. Compression can reduce file size but may also damage the fine detail that makes the mark readable.
Handle the image carefully
An ink impression is personal information. Keep it out of public posts, shared demos and example uploads. Check the processing badge before running and use only a service appropriate for the document you are preparing.
Download the reviewed copy only where you need it and clear the workspace afterward. Browser copies and temporary cloud copies have different retention limits, described in the privacy policy. Downloaded files remain under your control until you remove them yourself.
