Convert Word and PowerPoint files while preserving layout

Office files depend on fonts, styles and application layout. A PDF conversion should be checked against the source, especially when page breaks or slide graphics matter.

Choose the Word conversion mode

Word to PDF accepts DOCX, DOC and ODT. Simple local layout reflows text, headings, basic tables and inline images. It suits simpler content when the exact original pagination is not the main requirement.

Choose High fidelity with temporary cloud processing for complex styles, headers, page breaks or legacy documents. This sends the selected files to the converter; review the processing badge and privacy information before submitting.

  1. Add the Word file and choose the output style.
  2. Use High fidelity and temporary cloud processing when original layout matters.
  3. Compare headings, tables, images and page breaks in the exported PDF.

Convert PowerPoint slides

PowerPoint to PDF accepts PPT, PPTX and ODP and uses temporary cloud processing. Each slide becomes a PDF page. A PDF is a static document rather than a playing presentation, so inspect the content you need to share.

Fictional example: convert a three-slide project deck with a title, table and chart. Compare each PDF page with its source slide and check that labels and graphics fit.

Troubleshoot layout differences

Unavailable fonts can be substituted, changing line wraps or appearance. Keep a reference export from the source application where possible and compare the converted file before publishing.

For spreadsheets, source print settings and cell widths can cause clipping; Excel to PDF is the matching tool. A conversion is not an automatic repair of a source document with broken layout.

Prepare the result for sharing or printing

Use Multiple pages per sheet for a compact slide handout after conversion. Preview the text at its smaller size before printing. Use compression if the final PDF exceeds a sharing limit, and compare image detail after lossy settings.

The original Office file stays separate. Keep it when you need to edit the source later; a converted PDF does not replace the editable presentation or document.
